Reddit users say they have unveiled a secret message in the new trailer for CD Projekt Red's upcoming RPG which talks of a soon-to-be-announced "fully open-world game with an intense story."
It appears that Polish developer CD Projekt Red wanted to give fans a little more than they bargained for with the release of the new trailer for the studio's upcoming Cyberpunk 2077.
According to some Reddit users, a frame at the end of the trailer contains a hidden message from the developer.
In the message, which has been decoded on Reddit, CD Projekt Red reportedly says Cyberpunk 2077 is currently scheduled for release in 2015 but will more likely come out "when it's done."
The message also speaks of a new project which is "much closer to being completed" and which will reportedly be announced on February 5.
"Do you like our latest creation?" the message begins. "We certainly hope so. You may remember that we sometimes send you guys secret messages like this. It's a great way for us to speak right to you instead of burying ourselves in corporate mumbo-jumbo!"
"We are about to reveal our other project which is much closer to being completed and yes, it will also be a fully open-world game with an intense story. You can probably guess the game we're talking about. On the 5th of February it will all be clear."
This led some Reddit users to speculate that CD Projekt Red is gearing up to announce The Witcher 3. The message also calls for applications to join the in-house development team and describes more details about the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077:
"The short description is that it will be a story-heavy, nonlinear, open world RPG based on the well-known Cyberpunk pen and paper system and setting. Building open world games is something we are mastering right now and we believe that properly joining non-linear gameplay with an excellent story telling will bring a totally new quality. We'll tell some more about it soon!"
The message ends with a description of a reportedly newly created forum titled Afterlife, inviting users to join.
Cyberpunk 2077 puts players into a "dark future" in 2077 where advanced technologies have become "both the salvation and the curse of humanity." The game promises a nonlinear story designed for "mature" players and is set in the metropolis of Night City. It was also revealed today that Cyberpunk 2077 will feature sandbox elements.
FYI ppl. If you like this teaser go check other samples of its authors work( Tomasz Baginski). He was nominated to Oscar awards for his first animation. good stuff.
I like CD Projekt Red don't get me wrong but didn't we just get a Witcher title. I'd rather have the Cyberpunk now and the Witcher later. Keep it fresh knaamean.
@100proofsoco 360 peasants got it not too long ago yeah but PC people have had TW2 for a long time now, bout time a new one was announced :P
good point, I forgot about that...
FYI you spelled Pheasant wrong. I don't understand your curiosity with this particular game bird but hey whose judging!?
GHOST IN THE SHELL "ARISE" CONFIRMED FOR THIS GLORIOUS YEAR 2013
Not really cyberpunk and kind of off-topic but somewhat related I guess.
Everyone's saying that the song sucks. I actually like it a bit, not fit for most of the trailer though.
@Scorchstar I like it im a Heavy metal Nu metal fan and i like this one it sounds different, atleast it is not EMO!
@Scorchstar Same generation that thinks dubstep is the all-beat-all. Take their opinions with a grain of shit.
I'm getting a huge Ghost in th Shell vibe from this trailer. That alone is gonna make this a must buy. GITS is one of my favorite anime and has one of the best settings in fiction imo.
@DualSMG14 That's EXACTLY what I thought. Much like GITS, the trailer is full of up-front sizzle, style, and the expected cyberpunk cliche material... but then it evolves into a clearly more complex and nuanced story behind that.
Kind of like how The Witcher quickly takes all the medieval-style high fantasy cliche material and rapidly evolves into a much more complex, satisfying world.
Good for them, and good for the players...
@Pyrosa @DualSMG14 Speakng of Ghosts any word on Starcraft Ghost ? that trailer looked amazing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHbW7j_UN0U&list=LLjXpxNgRZnfDwyBOUjf40GQ , practically vaporware at this point :(
Thanks genius... like it wasn't really obvious.
But what people don't know is cyberpunk is schedule to be release before the witcher 3.
@SlimeSwayze Indeed, like Mojira7 said, this is actually a remake of an 80s game. I, being a grownup gamer, who grew up playing these old school pen and paper games and early RPGs really appreciate the sensibilities of this company and I really respond to the ideals and language of cyberpunk. It reminds me of fuzzier warmer times in my youth. I love the slight cheeze to the title. These games never take themselves TOO seriously.
@SlimeSwayze I think the game is based on a tabletop role-playing game franchise from the 80's called 'Cyberpunk'. But I guess I understand, I might personally think Dungeons & Dragons would be a silly sounding title if I didn't know it was a popular tabletop RPG from the 70's :)
Ok a trailer hasn't shivered my jimmies like that since... I'm not even sure when..
CD Projekt are one of the few gaming for gamers companies out there, forever supporting.
@Arcturuss I'm with you 100%. Especially since they still went forward and released Witcher 2 on 360 despite the initial distribution issues (Thank You Warner Bros.).
While the graphical fidelity was not the same as on PC, it was still a quality kicka$$ game.
Looks cool as hell. Too bad it won't be on an Xbox or PS system. If they want the game to look like that they are going to need to stick with high end PC's. I just don't have the time to build one these days. Plus my GF would freak if I wanted to build a PC just to play sick games. Boy do I hate getting old.
@Incubus420 That´s a CGI trailer and it also won´t look like this on any PC out there...
@Snake_Eater @Incubus420 You obviously haven't played the witcher 2 on PC in high settings . It's huge difference between watching a geameplay and playing the game yourself . The Witcher 2 on PC looks phenomenal and they can with no doubt deliver such graphics . Red Engine is cutting edge technology , Your name tells that you are Playstation gamer .
@Incubus420 thats not necesserily true. maybe it wont come out there at first, but just look at the witcher 2 and the success of the xbox version of the witcher 2
