Castlevania 3DS arrives March 5

Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate coming to Nintendo portable in United States early next year; European launch slated for March 8.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate will launch March 5 in the United States for the 3DS, publisher Konami announced today. The portable game will arrive in Europe on March 8.

Mirror of Fate was originally intended to launch during fall 2012, but Konami pushed the game to early 2013 in August. Konami producer Dave Cox said the delay was borne of a desire to make sure the product is a "handheld title unlike any other."

Mirror of Fate redirects its focus on the Belmont clan, 25 years after Lords of Shadow's conclusion. Players take on the roles of Trevor and Simon Belmont, as well as Dracula's own son, Alucard. The game will also lead into next year's other Castlevania game, Lords of Shadow 2 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

...Why even BOTHER marking the rating 'RP' when almost every game franchise has been tossed into the M-abyss never to be recovered?? Let's be realistic...

My best friend's opinion of LoS. "It really is a great game, I just can't bring myself to finish it. I have no idea why." lol

Looks pretty ugly in  videos even by 3ds standards. Should of brought to Vita. Cant wait for Lords of Shadow 2 though and will have to play Mirror of Fate eventually. My nephew has a 3DS so maybe ill just buy it to play on his.

I hope it turns out great.

To be honest, I always wanted a Symphony of the Night 2 in glorious HD for the consoles. I have the entire series so far though.

Castlevania has been one of my favorite game series collectively since NES days. I even enjoyed the N64 and PS2 games since the spirit of Castlevania was in place, and I even accepted the Wii fighting game as a sort of cute novelty.

That said, I found Lords of Shadow to be one of the biggest gaming disappoints I've experienced this console generation. Everything about the game was inherently wrong to me. The music, the pacing, the character and monster design, Etc.

I'm more than willing to give the 3DS game and the sequel a shot, but I must admit that I'm not expecting much.

@DinoBuster I also enjoyed the n64 game lol.  Haven't gotten a chance to try the wii fighting game (though I don't think I'll like it) or Lords of Shadows (but I *do* think I'll like that one) yet.  I DID however enjoy the notoriously bad Worlds of Power book when I was a kid though lol.  That book made me want to eat a lot of chocolate.

 I feel you.

I'm still very much about my GBA and DS Castlevanias. They took they cool elements of SotN and built on them very well.

Depending on how good this game ends up being, it might be time to buy a 3DS. I am definitely getting Lords of Shadow 2 though. The first might be the most underrated game this gen.

@Shenmue_Jehuty I tottally agree with you. LoS was a great game. It sure was not the best hack n' slash, the best explorer, the best puzzle, nor the best "kill that colossal creature" game, but it was a great experience in its whole.

Too bad that i just sold my 3DS - i simply have no interrest in Castelvania or Paper Mario (only Mario franchise besides the sport games, that i don't really like) - the lack of software releases on the 3DS, in comparison to when the DS had been out for this long is just staggering. It really annoys me since the DS was fantastic. I guess it's just easier or cheaper to develop for iOS and Android and that's where everybody's running to...

It took like 2 years before the original DS got anything good.

After seeing the recent trailer, I could not be more excited. Mercurysteam have really outdone themselves. Can't wait to see the premiere of gameplay of LOS2 at the VGA on Spike.

The one thing I am worried about this title is the replay value.  Is this going to feel like the linear 3D console version where you play it once and you're done?   Any old-school Castlevania fan would know that the 2D metroidvania titles have been extremely addictive as far as replay value goes.  I still catch myself playing SoTN and the DS titles over and over again.

Of all the N games, and there are a lot, Castlevania is one that I never liked.  I felt that way since the NES.

Good news for many other fans though.
