The only reason why I would wish this to come to consoles is because I cannot afford a computer powerful enough to play it at the present time.
Blizzard project director says developer not working on dungeon crawler for consoles; PC game has been in "polish mode" for two years.
Blizzard is not presently working on a console version of the much-anticipated dungeon crawler Diablo III, game director Jay Wilson told Gamasutra in an interview published today.
"We haven't officially announced it, because we're not 'experimenting,'" he said. "We tell people that basically we're experimenting, because it helps us hire people. The better people we hire, the better chance we have to actually make it."
"That's why we haven't kept it super secret, but we also haven't confirmed it, because we're not sure yet whether we think it will work, and whether we think we have the resources to do it."
There has been considerable confusion regarding a console version of Diablo III. The Irvine, California-based company has been hiring for the project since 2010, but no details about the game have come to light.
Elsewhere in the interview, Wilson revealed that Diablo III--due to be released tomorrow on PC and Mac--has been in "polish mode" for two years.
"I mean, there's certainly more content being built during that time. It's not like the game was 100 percent done for two years, and then we just polished it," he clarified. "But I would definitely say that that's the time period that we spent where there was a good contingent of the team that was focusing on polish."
Diablo III is the first title in the series since 2001's Diablo II: Lord of Destruction expansion and will add a variety of new features, character classes, and a new auction house system, which will charge gamers a range of fees. It will launch without player-vs.-player multiplayer and has set preorder records at Blizzard and Amazon. For more on Diablo III, check out GameSpot's latest preview.
It had better not go to consoles.
If it goes to consoles then they HAVE to give us (pc users) copies of the game we can play off-line.
Or do console players want to have to play only on line?
Playing the Pc version and absolutely loving it. Probably my favorite game ever so far. This game is far too awesome for our console comrades to miss out on. Do the right thing Blizzard, and bring Diablo to the masses.
@bmorgan303 I didn't like the game much, I laughed at "favorite game" and "far too awesome", but you'll gain a Like just for your positive attitude - a PC gamer who does want to share the goods with everyone no matter the platform. Kudos!
We weren't holding breath, anyway. Blizzard has always looked down their noses at console gamers. Considering the unholy mess they've made, for most gamers. out their current offering on their platform of choice, who needs them? We've already have one Bethesda, bless their glitchy-yet-awesome-game hearts, we don't need two.
I find it very hard to believe that they aren't at least testing this out. Wasn't it the big rumor two years ago that was what caused the huge delay?
Damn weird if you ask me.
The new game-play and skill mechanism would fit a console like a charm.
If they port it out well, would capture a huge ass share of the console market.
Cross-platform online game play would even be more of a blast.
@ruudparklimy I've yet to run into a bug. And I've played a lot. The server issues also stopped after day 2. So...
Ok so, I have an Xbox, PS3 and an iMac from late 2007. This game will run on anything a self respecting gamer would call a PC, as it does my shitty Mac. If your computer is too slow, then you're due for an upgrade... it must've been like 7 years or something!!! I'm a firm believer in supporting a platform through exclusives so I hope that this stays a PC... in the words of Jeff Gertsmann... EXCLUSIVE!!!!. Leave it for the PC guys please.
In other words, They haven't figured out how to get always on DRM and Real Cash Auction Houses on PSN and XBL
Not just the Old Blizzerd, but the old Capcom and old Squaresoft teams as well. But i agree. the 1st 2 were classics because of the development teams. Anticipation and prolonged waiting will sell this game no matter what. But will it be worth it in the end?
I'll also get it --but not for a while. I'm hearing about too many negative issues regarding the game. I'll wait till they get fixed. I am also waiting for Torchlight 2 as I believe it will give a better overall gaming ecperience!
@zinoalex The first Torchlight wasn't even that great-- never got why people feel Torchlight 2 is worth hyping. Now Grim Dawn (from the Titan Quest people) should be watched.
Sigh... If only the old Blizzard was still around. All the good developers are gone and now we are stuck with the WoW party making idiotic decisions about how to ruin all their best franchises. Seriously... I'm really rooting for Torchlight 2 to be amazing because some of the best talent from the D2 is making that game.
Don't get me wrong... I'm still going to get and play D3 for sure in the future, but right now it sounds like the "always online DRM buIIshiit" is really ruining the game for a lot of people.
Gamespot called, wants you to read their review on PSX Diablo. A quick search will tell you the game scored well, much to dismay of some. If Blizzard wants to release it on consoles, so be it. It could drive a few to buy the PC version. Either way, they'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
Diablo 2 was on a console and it was just fine. I would really like to play this on my Xbox 360, but if not I'll just play it on the PC.
I don't see how it would be on consoles, afterall, the PC version is all on their server, not on a disc.
To hell with "always-online" games.
those were different times. i bet something like an enhanced version a while after the pc version is out will to well
And ppl were troleld by gamespto that you need great PC, thus my brothers 5 year old pc with gt 9500 launch it on Mid max graphics, and my gtx 560 is Rocking of with better graphics, blizzard games are made like it will use max out of your video gpu. and better vid card will open more Options like wow have it.
@wexorian I was trolled by you, thinking you had something remotely substantial to say. Knock away the excess from your inexcusably bad grammar and all you have is a moron.
Now as For D3 or any Blizzard game for Console, IT's only for PC As loyal blizzard fan i don't want it to be Transfered on console Because it will ruin whole Thing it won't be special, Imagine if next gow was made also for xbox PS3 fans would be pissed off a lot.
Mass Effect (2 and 3) was released to the PS3. 360 fans arent complaining. Be fan of gaming not of one particular console, or pc for that matter.
@wexorian You're too much a fan of companies. Why would a ps3 owner be "pissed" that gow releases on xbox? What possible complaint would that warrant? I'm not special any more? Who cares? Isn't it cooler that half the gaming world now gets to play this awesome game?
Console Kids War against PC Gamers again lol, Grew up , PC gamers Say that Console gaming is fun But PC is more fun, Console Blockhead fans say that pc Gaming is junk.
@wexorian Illiterate trolls again lol, grow up.
What the h311 are you talking about? Can you translate this into English?
@wexorian I'm a console player, and i don't say that, you sir are dumb. Pc gaming is the best thing out there, it tends to make these console dev's amp up there shit to stay in the awesome race.
Okay I'm not boasting or anything besides its not that much of the highest-end pc but I was wondering if any of you guys could tell me if you think that the next-gen consoles are gonna be around my specs or like a lot better or what? I know that like with the PS3 they integrated graphics processing into the cpu and that consoles are not really like pc but I'd like to know what you think. Here's what I got: CPU: amd x4 965BE at 3.4ghz(not yet overclocked I might consider it)GPU: amd radeon hd6950 2gb
memory: kingston 8gigs at 1600mhz
and like a gigabyte mb im not sure that it matters all that much
@Raisiine Your computer will be more powerful than the Wii U but likely a few times less powerful than the next xbox and ps4 whenever they launch. Most people think the wii u will be roughly 4-5 times faster than an xbox 360 at the most. Your pc is roughly 8 times faster than an xbox 360. Even if microsoft and sony dont emphasize speed in their new consoles as much as they did in the last gen they''ll still be pretty fast for the time their released. For reference the current state of the art 7970 is about 15 times faster than the xbox 360 gpu so if the new console are released in a little over a year they''ll likely be at least that fast . If its more like two years they could be up to 30 times faster than the xbox 360
@Raisiine Intel NExt gen, ivy bridge Cores are blwoing up even next gen Cpu, and NVidia gtx 680-690 also, Consoles are Using Cpu on max that's different between PC and console, IF PC was using Cpu on max speed it will burn a lot. Ps 3 is 8 core I5 7 is 8 core also, Ivy bridge 12 core with 4.2 GHZ minimum
@wexorian Do you have any idea what you are talking about? Ivy bridge has been shown to improve performance from very little to 17%. If that's what you meant by "blwoing up" I guess... Here is an article that breaks down Ivy bridge very well: http://www.techspot.com/review/523-ivy-bridge-intel-core-i7-3770k/
Diablo 3 can't be made to play on consoles and shouldn't be made in my opinion. The reason is simple its the way Blizzard developed the game to with its always online DRM inwhich I refuse to support and any gamer who does is just feeding the DRM beast.
Blizzard was never mean to be a company which making great video effect game. All they want to archieve is the gameplay, balance and the experience of the player. While their game is not really need a High-end PC, their CGI cinema beat all of other company
I knew I was right. We console players don't need PC garbage that got an average USER score of 3.5 in Metacritic. That game is old, looks old, and few great cutscenes don't make it looking new. So much for the best PC exclusives.
It seems like Blizzard is not making enough money from WoW if they're making their old games again. I still hate them for not making games for such a long time due to their focus on WoW. Didn't buy any of their games, if they released them for the console then I probably would but my PC is no longer made for gaming since I find no reason to spend a few hundred to upgrade it every year.
