Elder Scrolls V publisher thanks fans for patience, says missing DLC for PS3 and PC is coming soon.
The wait for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim add-on content for the PlayStation 3 appears to be coming to a close. A tweet from Bethesda last night said the company is "close" to bringing the missing downloadable content to the PS3, as well as the PC.
"To update: we're also close on new Skyrim content for PS3 and PC," the tweet reads.
Bethesda also thanked fans for their patience, adding that it thinks players will find the wait to be worth it.
"Thanks to all our fans," a second tweet says. "We think you'll love the new stuff. We know it takes us time and thanks for all your support and patience."
Bethesda has released two expansions for Skyrim to date: Dawnguard and Hearthfire. Both packs are currently available for the Xbox 360 and PC, and in August, a Bethesda representative said potentially unsolvable issues may keep the Dawnguard expansion from ever being released for the PS3.

@beddominator Is Dawnguard and Hearthfire really worth fighting for? Rather lackluster DLC's imo that should stay on Xbox and PC. Dragonborn is the 1st worthwhile looking DLC that should come to PS3.
I completely see where your coming from but your still missing one thing you pointed out all the major issues going against the PS3 gamers (which I am one) and pointed out 1. This is Beshthenda's second game for ps3 so they don't know how it truly is for us 2. You said yourself, IF they put the time in so it works DECENT then we should support them, now normally I would agree with you (by the way Im talking to MeatBag_Wamo) but think about this, Besthenda's only other game Fallout 3, the game had a $hitload of PS3 exclusive glitches, bugs, and dumbed down graphics. Not to say that the Xbox didn't have any either but it was fantastic in comparison to how well they worked. And 3. We've been waiting a pretty damn long time in comparison to the Xbox which came out MONTHS before us and still hasn't been released, not to mention now after all this time they tell us Dawnguard through all the "time and effort" they put into making it compatible it may simply never be released? I say thats a big load of Bullshit, if it were a compatibility issue they would have known right away whether or not it could be put onto the PS3 and if it can it wasn't due to legal issues they have people for that, it's because they don't give a rats ass about us, even if they do eventually give us what we've been waiting for it won't be worth it, it will be filled with tons of extra game breaking glitches and bugs, that is a fact. Not to mention Hearthfire the second DLC we were promised which docent even add massive new locations or game changing mechanics, it's a god damn house! I swear they're just screwing with us. Anyway there you go MeatBag and anyone else reading this, I hope you all now realise just why the content coming soon to us true gamers may just be all bells and whistles
Everyone fails to realize that Skyrim is the SECOND PS3 game that Bethesda ACTUALLY DEVELOPED! Their first was Fallout 3. Oblivion was ported to the ps3 by 4J Studios, and Fallout New Vegas was developed by Obsidian Entertainment.
I personally thing that Bethesda was rebuilding the engine and DLCs to work better for the PS3. I also have a feeling that they might release the missing DLC as a bundle for PS3 users, but they might have to jump through some hoops to do so.
I have a PS3 and an Xbox, and I have been with Sony longer than Microsoft. I do understand what you are going through. I wish Bethesda could be more transparent about what's going on, but there could be legal issues preventing them from doing so. If Bethesda is taking the time to make sure that their DLC will run decent/well on the PS3, I wouldn't be complaining, I would be supportive.
Bethesda likely had Skyrim running very well on what little amount of PS3 they had for testing, but those were likely right off the assembly line or in pristine condition. If this is the case, there would be no way they could have caught the bugs and glitches that were present for most PS3 users.
Please be a little more considerate, understanding, and patient. Try to put yourselves in their shoes. This is the first game engine they built, the second time they've developed a game for the PS3, and Sony purposely made their system hard to develop games for. http://news.cnet.com/sony-ps3-is-hard-to-develop-for-on-purpose/
am i the only PS3 user thats not demanding a discount ??? makes me sad . im actually pleasantly surprised by their attention to us and telling us straight instead of what they did with FO 3/NV . i actually have a little restored faith inthem. yes i REALLY want my werewolf tree but if it makes the game far too buggy i rather them leave it out. but if they got it fixed great ! no since in getting anal cause it didnt get here when i wanted.
Sure hope when it DOES come out, after Sony helps Bethesda along, that there's some sort of small discount. Maybe PSN a bundle... all three expansions, if they all hit the store, for $30 bucks, or 33% off.
Either way, I admit, I'm a bit disgruntled, but Skyrim is still a solid game that I'm enjoying... not GOTY material, mind you, but fun.
Why would they mention PC if dawnguard is already out on it? Makes me wonder if this is even dawnguard...
@Rivboets7 OK then if PS3 owners don't deserve the Skyrim DLC then XBox owners don't deserve any DLC. It's stupid to say things like that. I own all 3 systems and didn't get the news of XBox exclusivity until after I purchased the PS3 Skyrim. I could have assumed it would happen but I was hoping it wouldn't and now several months after the PC and 360 releases PS3 owners now get it. I have several friends who own only PS3 and can't really afford to run out and get a 360 of upgrade their PC to play a version of Skyrim they should be able to play already. ALL GAMERS DESERVE FAIR TREATMENT.
Here's hopin' Sony helps these shmucks. I've found better ways to spend my saved Skyrim DLC money, on competent developers such as Gearbox, but I'll give them another chance if it comes out at half price on PS3 and PC.
@Drkr_Zen gearbox competent ? i had to stop playing borderlands 2 because i lost all my progress/unlocks due to a known issue, one character is stuck in the second playthrough and cant advance to end game, also the game freezes during loading screen , so much for competent :D
@AmnesiaHaze Sorry to hear, but sucks to be you... I've known them to be a developer that releases well priced DLC with tons of content on time for all platforms, release polished games with very few glitches that affect a very small percentage of people and aim to fix whatever is wrong with their games quickly... unlike Bethesda, on all accounts.
@rasterror It's rumored that the next console will have 8gb of ram and a lot are complaining about it saying how it's overkill. Not sure why people would complain about a system having 8gb of ram but if it does that issue is fixed for you.
@rasterror More like, I hope Bethesda gets their act together by the next gen. I'm not sayin' the PS3 is easy to develop for, but plenty of other developers have had no trouble with getting their DLC out on all platforms simultaneously and with few bugs.
@rasterror Meh, everyone knows about this already yet Bethesda is the only company that cant figure it out after this system's 5th year in existence.
@rasterror Most likely will. What many people didnt know about this dlc, is that it requires more than 256mb of ram. Which is why it's a big problem getting it on the ps3.
@-KyoKi- @rasterror mmmmm really? well i wonder how much ram does it require to run MGS4, i dont think its the console its the company who probably are busy on other projects rather than focusing on perfecting one.
thats why i play games like world of warcraft, its the same game since it came out but they have spent all this year making it better, they didnt stop with vanilla wow they went beyond that and.
Bethesda just doesnt care on making their games perfect as long as people buy them. (thats why their games suck balls)
@arizothwow @-KyoKi- comparing a multiplatform game to a game specifically designed for one console doesn't mean anything. It takes around 2 GB to run Skyrim smoothly on my PC on settings that match the 360 and PS3's video. Evenwith the 360's 512 MB RAM the game tends to stutter a little so imagine how bad it performs with only 256 MB to work with.
Thank you Bethesda. I'm never gonna buy any game made by you guys any more. simply because RockStar games are 100X better than yours
They make completely different games, I love both comapaines the same
He may have been making a correlation between the two based on that... or he just randomly picked R* as a superior developer/his favorite much in the same way that I mentioned finding a better way to spend my Skyrim DLC money on a competent developer... meaning Gearbox, by the way.
@SythisTaru that would be true if it were more than just bethesda and their crappy engine that had issues on it. given all of these years and all of these games later it cant be the ps3 thats at fault.
I was upset for a while. But then I realized that I don't know anybody that still plays skyrim. I watched some dawnguard on my friends 360. I can live without it.
No rush... unless a lot of GS users are liars they'll have ditched their copies by now anyway swearing never to touch any game by Bethesda ever again.
@TTDog i havent , just uninstalled it to make space for new games and kept my saves backed up
@AmnesiaHaze From the lack of abuse for my comment I'd say you probably weren't one of those abusing Bethesda as they keep delaying the PS3 DLC release.
I do love the irony of so many PS3 owners though, as they refer to the Xbox as a PC-Lite machine but they're the ones who have to install games on their console to work.
@Atheno 1) Bashing? Nope, just pointing out hyprocracy.
2) Nextbox using Blu-Ray? Merely guesswork unless you've heard something we haven't... keeping in mind that Skyrim itself fits easily on one DVD with room to spare whether Blu-Ray is needed is open for debate.
3) I'd suggest getting your machine checked out then, I've never had an issue playing off disk with my old white style 360 that's coming up to 5 years old.
That was kind of an unneeded bashing don't you think? Installing games to the hard drive is an issue with the blu-ray player being a slow speed, nothing else. Mind you, the new xbox will be using blu-ray too. It is possible that all next gen consoles will have to install. Either way, I install all my XBOX 360 games to the hdd anyway, because it runs like crap if you don't.
Their tweet says content, not DLC. Pete Hines has stated that the words add-on content, on the back of the box, doesn't mean DLC. Unless they say, Dawnguard, hearthfire, then most of the people following this will just assume it's another lackluster patch, maybe with some super new kill cams. ::yawn::
@Maize84 what other add-on content is their that the ps3 is missing besides hearthfire and dawnguard?
@Maize84 im hoping for a ps3 exclusive horse armor
