Batman: Arkham City Lockdown hits iOS

Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios delivers $6 one-on-one brawler featuring the Caped Crusader for the iPhone and iOS.

Batman: Arkham City Lockdown arrived on the iOS App Store this morning, signaling the first mobile effort from NetherRealm Studios, the developer behind Mortal Kombat. The $6 iPhone and iPad action game puts Batman back in Arkham City for a series of one-on-one Infinity Blade-style fights against the likes of the Joker, Two-Face, Deathstroke, and more.

The title also features an upgrade system for the Dark Knight's various attributes and arsenal. In-game purchases are also in place, allowing players to buy WayneTech upgrade points and alternate Batman skins.

While Arkham City Lockdown is the first Batman title from NetherRealm Studios, a number of the studio's developers have worked with the DC Comics icon before. NetherRealm was formed out of Midway's Mortal Kombat team after Warner Bros. acquired the publisher in 2009. The last project the studio made under the Midway brand was Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, which starred Batman, Joker, and Deathstroke, among others.

Maybe, but I think I'll try to wait to see if I can catch it at $3 or less. I've still got to finish Arkham City before playing it anyway and that could take me a while. I saw it yesterday on the App Store, but the price turned me off from even looking at the details.

ios just isn't that impressive yet to me...if you told anyone ios was an actual game system and gave the list of handful of console-like high-quality titles with the massive list of either awful, casual,or low-quality shovelware they would laugh in your face saying it is a failure of a console.Exclusives? Infinity Blade is about the only non-casual exclusive I can think of right now that isn't a rip-off of an actual game..has modern portable gaming gotten so desperate that we feel the need to praise a smart-phone (not even a full-fledged gaming system) for having 5 good games that aren't rip-offs of actual games?
