Newest iteration of small-town simulation series to release on Nintendo's portable during first half of next year alongside Fire Emblem: Awakening.
During a Nintendo Direct presentation today, a newAnimal Crossing game for 3DS was confirmed for a North American launch during the first half of 2013. The game is called Animal Crossing: Jump Out in Japan, and will release in North America as Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
Unlike past sequels, the game's characters will have a more human-like appearance. Animal Crossing: New Leaf will also allow players to become the mayor of the main town and give them free rein to improve the area. A new trailer for the game is embedded below.
In addition, Nintendo also confirmed today that Fire Emblem: Awakening will release during the same launch window. The game released in Japan as Fire Emblem: Kakusei in April and was confirmed for a North American launch in June.
Highlights in the game include the ability to have nearby allies tag-team attack enemies on the battlefield, new classes like the Grandmaster and Griffon Knight, and the option to play the game in casual mode where permanent death is removed. The game also features paid downloadable content, including maps, new episodes, and units from previous games in the series.
I've decided to take the 1st & 4th paragraphs and assume they are for the same game. Finally, I can teach that b?!&$ Nibbles a lesson for leaving me and moving in with my best friend!
I hate that it's taking this long. I've been waiting to play the next edition in the series. I am kind of worried though. I usually think, "Hey! Longer game releases means the game will be better!" But in the back of my head, I'm wondering if it'll be just the same thing over again, and all that extra time waiting would be wasted. Now, I know some things will remain the same. If it's not broke, don't fix it. I'd be bothered if things were changed, but I would like more additions. More festivals, more events and things to do. I just hated in the past editions, life seemed to shut down at 10 pm, because all your neighbors were in bed, and the stores were closed. We need a 'night life' sort of thing, for us night owls. Changing the time doesn't feel like a good solution to this problem, as we all want it to feel 'authentic' with our own time.
3DS, the system in which I play many franchises for the first time >< and this one will be no exception.
Jebus... I was going to try to avoid falling into the 3DS trap, I can't stand all of this 3D crap, but maaaan.... a new AC... WHY! Now I'm sold.
I can't wait! :)
Great, now my social life will be all but obliterated. Animal Crossing AND Fire Emblem? Damn, all that 3D epicness might set my eyes and hands on fire.
All I say is, thank Reggie that these games aren't coming out when I need to work on my college applications.
Luigi Mansion 2, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, jeez 2013 is already making my wallet cry and that's excluding the consoles games i want.
@archvile_78 I feel ya. So many good games, not enough monies to go around. (And an extra thumbs up for the Radiant Historia avatar :P)
This game is sounding like it's going to shape up to be great, but jesus... June of next year? It missed its original launch date by two years! TWO YEARS!
Hopefully there will be a lot more, and more interesting, things to do in this version. The previous games grew old very quickly and each new game just felt like a port (I think they were actually!).
Remember when you move the furniture you'd get bugs underneath them because you would be gone for awhile. And you can finally swim :D becoming a mayor YAY!!Double bell points!!And the singing, guitar dawg :D I CANNOT WAIT!! ^_^
the animals looking more human like sounds like something I may not like.... I hope they actually changed a lot of stuff so the game feels like a new addition to the series... Animal Crossing City Folk was a waste of my time...I felt like I already spent hours on it on the Gamecube... I'll be happy to see the series do new things as long as it doesn't become to kiddy...not art style wise of course that's as kiddy as possible
Seeing that it should have been a freakin' launch title, THEN was given multiple different release dates.... I'll hold my breath.
Animal Crossing is easily one of my MOST favorite games ever (pick a generation, I've owned them all).
The two games that will force me to buy a 3DS, both launching in the same time frame? If only one of them had a system bundle I would cry tears of joy... Here's hoping!
They better do away with animal tracks in this or any future console versions... What a stupid, game ruining idea.
