Diablo III headed to next-gen in 2014 - Report
Blizzard developers say upcoming next-gen console versions will not be launch titles for new platforms; no plans for portable version.
Diablo III will launch on next-generation consoles in 2014, according to Blizzard Entertainment designers speaking with Diablo Fans.
The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions are slated for release on September 3. Currently, the game is confirmed for the PlayStation 4 but not the Xbox One.
Game director Josh Mosqueira and designers Travis Day and Wyatt Cheng told the site that launching in 2014 will allow Blizzard time to create unique features for each platform.
Blizzard has previously revealed that Diablo III on the PS4 will use the DualShock 4's new touchpad for inventory management.
The designers also confirmed in the interview that there are currently no plans to bring Diablo III to portable devices.
Diablo III originally launched for Windows PC and Mac in May 2012. The game has sold more than 12 million copies as of December 31.
