Madden series sells 99 million units
Life-to-date sales of EA Sports' gridiron franchise reaches new milestone, driving $3.7 billion in net revenue; Madden 25 due out August 27.
EA Sports' American football franchise Madden has now sold approximately 99 million units life-to-date, driving $3.7 billion in net revenue, the company announced today. The franchise is not EA Sports' biggest player, as the FIFA series crossed the 100 million milestone in 2010.
The Madden series marks its 25th anniversary this year, and to herald the occasion, EA Sports is releasing its Madden product as "Madden 25" instead of Madden NFL 14.
As announced earlier this week, Madden 25 will launch August 27 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. No mention was made of other platforms.
Concrete gameplay details on Madden 25 were not divulged, though EA Sports said this year's game will "push the boundaries," and set the foundation for Madden to continue for another 25 years.
Madden 25 is currently in development at EA Tiburon.
