Gamers who preorder the title will receive a book that bridges the story gaps between the first and second game, as well as receive product codes to unlock three costumes and a PS3 custom theme. Namco Bandai will also be releasing a Tales of Xillia 2 X Edition bundle which contains the game and a customized dual shock controller. This bundle will cost 12,980 ($164).

Fans can also purchase the Famitsu DX pack bundled with the game. This bundle contains a giant wall tapestry drawn by animation studio Ufotable, eight clear files featuring Tales of Xillia 2 artwork, a stuffed toy of main character Ludger's familiar, and a customized mug. The set costs 11,499 yen ($145).

Namco Bandai will also offer a special bundle from its LaLaBit Market site. The bundle contains a calendar and a set of small dimensional-sized figurines. This set will cost 11,980 yen ($151).

The company also revealed its plans to spread the word about the game. A Tales of Xillia 2 public event will be held at Kotobukiya Akihabara from August 18 to 26. Namco Namja Town, a Namco Bandai-sponsored theme park in Ikebukuro, will host a Tales of Xillia 2 event from October 20 until December 2. In addition, a Tales of Xillia 2-themed shop will open in the Shinjuku Marui One building from November 11 until November 15.

The story of Tales of Xillia 2 takes place a year after the first game. Players control two main characters, Ludger and Elle, and can shape the course of the narrative with dialogue trees and choices.

The game will still use the same battle system as the first game; Ludger can swap between guns, swords, and hammers in the middle of combat. Characters from the first Tales of Xillia will definitely return; the most recent ones confirmed are Alvin and Leia.
