Sega recently announced that the open beta for the free-to-play massively multiplayer online game Phantasy Star Online 2 will kick off on June 21 this year.

According to an announcement on the publisher's website, the upcoming open beta will allow players to power up to level 30. Like in all free-to-play titles, microtransactions will be offered and allow players to purchase virtual items for character customization and keys to unlock certain cosmetic features.

The open beta will be available for the PC version of the game, with players able to download the free-to-play Japanese client here. No firm launch date has been announced for the full version of the game, though it's believed to be released within the coming months.
