Ubisoft Quebec working on Wii U project, AAA MMO

In its six-year history, Ubisoft's Quebec City studio has specialized in DS and Wii development, handling Nintendo platform editions of games like The Black Eyed Peas Experience, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, and TMNT. The development house is trying new things, as job listings on the Ubisoft Quebec Facebook page posted yesterday reveal the team is working on a new AAA massively multiplayer online title, as well as a AAA Wii U project.

The MMO listing is for a tools programmer, and while it gives no concrete details about the project itself, it does tell candidates that the hired person will work on projects "on multiple platforms." An interest in traveling around the world is also given as a desired quality.

Ubisoft Quebec is looking for two new developers for its AAA Wii U project: a senior engine programmer and a network programmer. Again, the listings contain no specific details about the project, but the network programmer job description does involve implementing anti-cheat solutions, social features for online multiplayer, and downloadable content.

At this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, Ubisoft was one of the most prominent third-party publishers to confirm its support for Wii U. The company held its own event dedicated to Nintendo's upcoming system and showed off three games: Ghost Recon Online (developed by Ubisoft Shanghai), Killer Freaks From Outer Space (Ubisoft Montpelier), and an unspecified Assassin's Creed (Ubisoft Montreal). The publisher also said it was working on a "multisport" title and a Raving Rabbids game for Nintendo's new console.
