NeverDead dismembering January 31
Konami's demon-slaying third-person action game slated for release early next year on 360, PS3.
NeverDead, the dismemberment-heavy third-person action game from Kojima Productions veteran Shinta Nojiri, was first revealed during Konami's 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo media briefing. News surrounding the game dried up until this year's E3, and now, the campy action adventure has a release date.
Konami announced today that NeverDead will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on January 31. That date is proving to be popular among Japanese publishers and their high-profile releases, as Namco Bandai's SoulCalibur V and Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII-2 are also scheduled for release on that day.
Developed in conjunction with Rebellion Software, NeverDead puts players in the shoes of Bryce Boltzmann, an immortal demon slayer that is prone to dismemberment. Getting into the enemy fray is encouraged here, as amputated body parts can be used to traverse previously inaccessible areas, utilized as weapons, or reattached to regain mobility.
The game will feature massively destructible environments and various modes of multiplayer, including cooperative and competitive play. Rebellion's recent releases include last year's Aliens vs. Predator and Rogue Warrior in 2009.
