Sony may be using the launch of its PlayStation 3D display to promote the PlayStation 3's lineup of 3D-enabled content, but it's also using that 3D-enabled content to promote the launch of the 3D monitor. The electronics giant today confirmed that Resistance 3--originally intended to be bundled with the display, but later replaced by MotorStorm: Apocalypse--would now be given away as a preorder bonus.

But wait, that's not all!
But wait, that's not all!

The monitor itself is expected to launch in November, but those who preorder by September 30 will be eligible to receive a free copy of Resistance 3 in addition to MotorStorm: Apocalypse. As for the monitor itself, it will also come packed with a single pair of PlayStation-branded active 3D glasses and an HDMI cable.

The $500 display also features Sony's SimulView technology, which lets two players use the 3D glasses to see different full-screen images, eliminating the need for split-screen multiplayer. For those interested in the split-screen option (or simply letting more than one person enjoy 3D content on the set), an additional pair of 3D glasses can be purchased for $70.

Set for release next week, Resistance 3 takes place in an alternate-reality 1957, after the US is overrun by a hostile alien race called the Chimera. It follows Joseph Capelli, an ex-soldier hiding out from the Chimera with his family and several other survivors. Besides offering 3D and PlayStation Move support, the game will boast several multiplayer modes for up to 16 people.
