When Activision announced it was discontinuing the DJ Hero franchise in February, the fate of developer FreeStyle Games was left in limbo. Today, The Guardian has word on the fate of at least two of those developers, reporting that ex-FreeStyle Games employees Chris Lee and Ofei Sakyi have formed Music in Colour. The new company doubles as a music label and mobile game developer, and its first project, Say What?!, is slated for release for iOS devices on July 20.

Music in Colour is being commissioned as a joint venture by 8linQ, a UK-based publisher that claims it is "changing the way people consume music." According to the report, other partners in the process include UK-based production music company Reactify and recording studio Metropolis Group. Additionally, the group has tapped Sony Music Entertainment for a licensing deal and will make available additional songs via an in-game store for £1.19 ($1.70) each.

Say What?! has reportedly been in development for "several months" and includes songs from Calvin Harris, Scouting for Girls, the Zutons, and the Nolans. As for the game, Say What?! has players tapping lyric cues to songs as they float by onscreen.
