Twisted Pixel's 'Splosion Man proved that a gruesome mess isn't always such a bad thing when it led off Xbox Live's Summer of Arcade block in 2009. With Ms. 'Splosion Man set to reprise that action platformer this year, Twisted Pixel revealed today that the game will serve as a pre-2011 Summer of Arcade appetizer.

Today, Twisted Pixel said that Ms. 'Splosion Man will be available through the Xbox Live Marketplace on July 13. That release date comes one week in advance of the official Summer of Arcade lineup, which includes Toy Soldiers: Cold War, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Fruit Ninja, Bastion, and From Dust.

A follow-up to the original 'Splosion Man, Ms. 'Splosion Man is also a fast-paced 2D platformer, in which players self-combust their way through vibrantly colored, lighthearted levels. The game includes 50 single-player stages as well as an additional 50 levels that can be played in a multiplayer setting.

Beyond new stages, Twisted Pixel said that it had provided a number of updates to the 'Splosion Man formula, including new gameplay mechanics, enhanced network support, and original music. The game also includes collectibles that unlock behind-the-scenes looks at the game's creation.

Twisted Pixel did not reveal a price point for Ms. 'Splosion Man.
