PlayStation Store not going up today or tomorrow
Contrary to reports, Sony says the PlayStation 3's online commerce presence won't be back online today; May 31 still deadline; some maintenance happening today.
Last week, unconfirmed reports had the PlayStation Store coming back online on sometime on May 24. However, this morning, Sony quickly nipped that rumor in the bud, saying that the PlayStation 3's online commerce presence won't be back online today--or even tomorrow.
"Contrary to reports, the store will not be publishing today," said Sony Computer Entertainment America social media manager Jeff Rubenstein on the US PlayStation Blog.
Over on the European PlayStation blog, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe blog manager James Gallagher went one step further on the EU PS Blog, saying that the PS Store "will not be reopening tomorrow, but we will let you know here as soon as the date is confirmed." Officially, the target for restoration of the PlayStation store is the end of the month.
Both men's comments come as the PlayStation begins undergoing maintenance today from around 8 a.m.-5 p.m. PDT. "During this time, registration and account management will be inaccessible, including the password reset process," said Rubenstein. "While some users may experience difficulty signing in to PSN, the majority of consumers will be able to play online, as well as sign in to external sites that require PSN authentication (like this one)."
