Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D starting body count June 28
New trailer reveals launch date for first 3DS entry of Capcom's horror survival series.
Last September, Nintendo announced that 10 titles would be ready during the "spring 2011" launch period of the 3DS. One of the highest-profile games was Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, the first game from Capcom's horror survival series to debut on the three-dimensional handheld.
Now, with the 3DS having gone on sale on March 27 in the US, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D has slipped from its initial release window. According to a trailer for the game released today, the game will debut on June 28, one week after the official start of the summer season. The game's premiere will also come after the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which was initially the bookend for the 3DS's launch period.
The Mercenaries 3D is inspired by the game modes of the same name that were featured in Resident Evil 4 and 5. In the title, players try to beat each other's zombie kill counts in timed rounds. Specific missions from those two games will be included, along with new modes and additional characters. The game will also feature online cooperative play, as well as a demo of the upcoming 3DS title Resident Evil: Revelations.
