Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia bundles delayed
Ubisoft's HD, 3D update for acrobatic action adventure trilogy due April 19, followed by classic Sam Fisher stealth action series on June 21.
Gamers who stopped by their local retailer today hoping to pick up a copy of Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Classic Trilogy HD and Prince of Persia Classic Trilogy HD for the PlayStation 3 likely came away disappointed. Ubisoft today confirmed for GameSpot that the classic Prince of Persia HD update is now expected to arrive on April 19, followed by the Splinter Cell HD package on June 21.
Like its downloadable counterpart released through the PlayStation Network in December, Ubisoft's Prince of Persia combo includes 2003's The Sands of Time, 2004's Warrior Within, and 2005's The Two Thrones. All three games benefit from an HD remastering, as well as new stereoscopic 3D visuals.
Similarly, Splinter Cell Classic Trilogy HD includes the 2002 original stealth shooter, as well as Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory. All three games have also been updated with high-definition graphics and a stereoscopic 3D view. Ubisoft had also said that it was planning on releasing the Splinter Cell Classic Trilogy HD through the PSN.
Both bundles share a $39.99 price point. Ubisoft had not returned GameSpot's request for comment as of press time.
