Earlier this week, after months of wild speculation, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception was officially announced with a broad "late 2011" release window. Now, gamers thirsting for the next Nathan Drake adventure have a date to circle on their calendars.

Tonight at the 2010 Video Game Awards, a new trailer for Drake's Deception was shown, which ultimately revealed a release date of November 1, 2011, for the title. The game will arrive, like the two before it, exclusively on the PlayStation 3.

Details surrounding the game's narrative remain largely murky. However, what is known is that it will focus on the relationship between Drake and his mentor Victor "Sully" Sullivan. This time around, a search for a lost city will take the wily adventurer to the Arabian Peninsula and its bleak Empty Quarter.

Drake's Deception will also boast a number of additional features its predecessor lacked. The title will include expanded multiplayer and co-op modes, improved reverse climbing, stereoscopic 3D capability out of the box, new stealth maneuvers, the ability to engage multiple enemies in melee combat, and the power to shoot multiple enemies at once. Additionally, as an earlier rumor stated, the game will be set largely in the desert.

The game will debut alongside the first novel based on the series, Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth but not the film based on the series. That project, directed by David O. Russell and starring Mark Wahlberg, is set to shoot next summer.

Additionally, gamers eager to see more of Drake's Deception can expect to catch a live demo of the title on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Monday, December 13. For more on the franchise's most recent entry, check out GameSpot's review of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
