Homefront being novelized
John Millius-penned book to go on sale alongside THQ's near-future shooter, which sees US occupied by North Korea.
In the 1980s, director John Milius stirred controversy with his film Red Dawn, which portrayed a fictional account of the US being invaded by the Soviet Union. Now, the Apocalypse Now screenwriter is returning to the occupied-US fiction genre with Homefront, the first-person shooter he is currently writing the story for.
Apparently the aforementioned story was so sprawling, it couldn't be contained by just a game. Today, THQ and Random House announced that Milius will pen a companion novel for Homefront to be published alongside the game. The novel will expand upon the story of the game, which sees the US taken over by North Korea, and follows American forces aiming to cast off the shackles of communist hegemony.
Both the Homefront novel and game are due out in early 2011. The game is slated for release on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 and is currently in development at Frontline-maker Kaos Studios. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
