Cammie Dunaway has been a representative face of Nintendo of America since 2007, when she took over the role of executive vice president of sales and marketing from current president and COO Reggie Fils-Amie. However, that will soon change, as Nintendo announced today that Dunaway has resigned her position as the company's top marketer, effective October 1.

So long, Cammie Dunaway.
So long, Cammie Dunaway.

Of Dunaway's departure, Nintendo only stated that she has accepted an executive position outside the game industry. The publisher did not name a replacement, be it interim or permanent, to the company's top sales and marketing position. Dunaway has more than two decades of experience in marketing, including more than 13 years at Frito Lay and a chief marketing officer position at Yahoo!.

"We appreciate Cammie's contributions to Nintendo and the role she played in bringing the Wii and Nintendo DS experiences to millions of people," Fils-Aime said in a statement. "Her team and the rest of Nintendo of America remain focused on our goal of maintaining the incredible momentum Nintendo enjoys heading into the busy holiday season."

Dunaway's departure comes at a time when Nintendo is facing significant headwind in the console and handheld gaming markets. For the April-June accounting period, the Japanese publisher posted a rare quarterly loss of ¥25.2 billion ($294 million) on revenues that had dipped 25.6 percent to ¥188.6 billion ($2.2 billion). In addition to an unfavorable exchange rate, Nintendo cited slumping Wii and DS hardware and software sales figures as cause for the declines.
