Swedish developer GRIN shut its doors in 2009, but the studio's Bionic Commando Rearmed team lived on in the form of Might and Delight, announced last week. As it turns out, Bionic Commando Rearmed will be returning as well, courtesy of fellow Swedish studio Fat Shark, which also has ties to GRIN. Capcom announced today that Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 will be available through Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network during the first part of 2011.

Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 is a direct sequel to 2008's well-received reboot of Capcom's 8-bit platforming franchise. The game picks back up with Nathan Spencer, who now finds himself facing off against General Sabio.

To thwart Sabio's technologically empowered attack on humanity, Spencer will again make use of the bionic grappling hook affixed to his arm. Capcom notes that the game will benefit from a number of visual enhancements, including more detailed character models and a brightened color palette. Also, new gameplay mechanics, weapons, and attacks have been added to Rearmed 2.

Notably, Capcom has hired on art studio Massive Black to create the game's cutscenes. Massive Black's recent credits include work on the highly acclaimed Infamous, BioShock 2, and God of War III.
