Red Faction: Guerrilla set for September on PCs
Desktop edition of Mars-bound open-world shooter takes aim at a launch window as publisher rephrases release schedule statements.
Yesterday, THQ told investors that it had no new game releases planned through its current fiscal quarter, which ends September 30. As a result, GameSpot reported that Red Faction: Guerrilla would come out no sooner than October. A THQ representative today clarified the company's previous statements and, in so doing, narrowed down a September release window for the sci-fi shooter.
"Red Faction: Guerrilla for the PC is still on track for worldwide release in September," the representative said. "Yesterday's earnings call was referencing the fact that there will be no new full releases in Q2 FY10."
When it launches, Red Faction: Guerrilla for the PC will join the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions (see review below) on store shelves, both of which were released in June. In reporting its record quarterly results yesterday, THQ revealed that the Volition-developed shooter shipped more than a million copies across the two consoles. However, it was easily outpaced by the publisher's mixed martial arts game UFC 2009: Undisputed, which shipped 2.9 million copies worldwide.
