Ghostbusters escapes from PS3 in Europe
Sony exclusivity expires; Xbox 360, Wii, DS, and PC versions hit shelves October 23.
Though PlayStation 3 gamers have been enjoying the delights of bustin' ghosts since June, European gamers without Sony's black box or a desire to import the game have had to wait it out. Originally, all formats of the game were scheduled for release together in June. However, an unexpected exclusivity deal for Sony in Europe saw only the PS3 version released, with the other versions promised for "later in the year."
Now, Namco Bandai's partner--formerly Atari--has given a definitive release date for other formats of the game in Europe. It will be coming to the Xbox 360, Wii, DS, and PC on October 23. The game sees players capturing ghosts through the streets of Manhattan and features the original cast of the film reprising roles as Stantz, Venkman, Spengler, and Winston.
Though the game has finally made it to release, its future was originally in doubt after being dropped by Activision-Blizzard, following its merger with Vivendi games. Fortunately, Atari saw the spectral light and picked up the title. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's full review.
