Forza 3 revs up Limited Edition bundle

$80 premium package will net 360 owners the latest Turn 10 racer along with a 2GB USB drive, exclusive cars, community perks.

The existence of Forza Motorsport 3 for the Xbox 360 was leaked time and again before Microsoft finally announced it officially during its E3 2009 media briefing. Thankfully, the company was much more up front about the premium version for the game, as Microsoft has confirmed for GameSpot the details of a Forza Motorsport 3 Limited Edition bundle to launch alongside the standard edition of the game this October.

Carrying a retail price of $79.99, the Limited Edition will include a Forza-branded 2GB USB drive and keychain, a selection of exclusive in-game cars, a dashboard theme, and a "VIP Membership" for some of the game's community features. A Microsoft representative said details would be made available at a later date, but the membership will entitle gamers to "special treatment" at the game's auction house, community storefront, and on the game's official forums.

When it launches, Forza Motorsport 3 will include approximately 400 vehicles from Lamborghini, Ferrari, Ford, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Porsche, Corvette, and more. The game will also include new features like a rewind function, cockpit views for each of the cars, rollover crashes, and creator scoreboards for the game's user-generated content features.

    for Ehggs,
I agree with you this doesn't really seem like it's worth the 20 extra bucks mabey if they gave us more cars or a wheel I would think about getting the special edition, but for now I'll settle with the normal forza 3.

The rewind function will probably be an option, just look at the options in Forza 2, you could make it more arcade like or a very realistic experience.

    Posted Jun 21, 2009 8:57 pm PT

Having a rewind feature kills it for me. That's for an arcade racer, not a sim.

I would like it to be noted that you listed all these makers.. but corvette is a model... not a make. I think you meant Chevrolet

@ spencertaylor, get a life dude, have you even played forza??? GT was a very good game infact it was one of the best game's on the ps1, gt 2 also a very good game, gt 3 was good but at times felt like playing a tech demo, then you get to gt4p and gt4 and of course gt5p did not like them at all, yes they look nice but that's about it, but by then forza was out so who cares

the one thing i really like in forza is the drive train swaps, it's something i've done in real life and it's nice to see in a game

to be honest the ps3 is looking like an expencive blu-ray player at the mo with no game's im interested in to make me want another one, i think i'll just get a blu-ray drive for my pc

i'll be getting the limited edition for sure, i normaly get the LE version of a game i know i'm going to like and forza 3 is going to be awesome, to be honest the LE versions of games are well worth the extra money and the people behind the games deserve any extra they can get out of these games so they can go on and make even better games and DLC

forza 3 is going to be so awesome and i can't wait to spend many long hours playing it, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TURN 10

    Autolycus,

I like the Forza series. But it disappoints me to no end when they blatantly show their greed like this. Don't you see? They're not going to add extra cars and features for this milk pan version, they are going to WITHHOLD cars and features for people willing to support them by buying their $60 product. That's not cool. You can be as optimistic as you want but it doesn't change the fact that they could just as easily add that extra stuff into the supposed "full" game at no extra cost. But they sure seem bent on charging you extra for it and making themselves look good while doing it. Unfortunately, "die-hard" fans are blind to this reality.

    Carashnak,

The companies are counting on that profit from their die-hard fans and they know they'll get it. It's an oppurtunity for the companies to make a bigger profit and for die-hard fans to get the ILLUSION of having a one-up on everyone else.

A game is complete when everything developed is in the software. Sure, they may come up with stuff in the future to improve the game. That's what DLC is for (frankly I wouldn't mind if they spent a little extra time in the development process to think of that stuff first). But it's different when they've developed extra stuff only to put it into an even more expensive game that gives you "exclusive" rights over everyone else. Only hardware should make the games price go up since it actually costs money to manufacture. So that leaves only the 2GB Flash Drive. And that shouldn't add more than $5 to the price. So sorry, their releasing an incomplete game at $60.

I was already pissed when they did this with SoulCalibur IV. No one will get anything extra from me that didn't cost them extra to add save DLC since it actually does require man-hours to produce post-production. And as it is, DLC is, for the most part, overpriced.

It's only profit for them and while it's okay to support your favorite games, there is a line between support and simply getting milked for what you got.

  • Carashnak

    Posted Jun 19, 2009 2:42 am PT

@Ehggsz - You're looking at it the wrong way; Think of it like everyone is getting the complete game, but those of us who are willing to spend more get that little bit extra on top
It's an oppurtunity for the companies to make a bigger profit and for die-hard fans to get one-up on everyone else

First on the list to get this special pack (unofficially)

Just hope they don't release a Collectors edition, a Limited edition and a Standard edition. That would be really annoying.

  • Ehggsz

    Posted Jun 19, 2009 1:46 am PT

I hate it when they add "exclusive" content to games at a higher price.

They're saying I need to pay $20 more for cars that should come with the damn game? They're going to tell me that when I buy the $60 "full" game, I'm not getting the full game? I'll pass, thank you very much.

    @shkar

ppl who blindly follow like you really piss me off. gt1-gt5p were roughly all the same, do some license test, get get cars, the only thing that changed were the graphics and the number of cars and tracks. no real innovation was introduced so why start believing they will now. GT5P had a real opportunity to show off something new like car damage or improved physics but underwhelmed and didnt do either.
