Tiger Woods 10, Grand Slam Tennis advance to June 8

EA bumps up release of golf, tennis sports sims to coincide with launch of Nintendo's new MotionPlus peripheral.

In mid-April, Nintendo attached a date and price to its much-anticipated Wii Remote add-on, saying that the Wii MotionPlus would arrive in North America on June 8 for $19.99. However, the arrival of Wii MotionPlus is problematic in that Nintendo's first-party software designed to support it--Wii Sports Resort--isn't expected until July 26. Therefore, the Wii edition of Sega's Virtua Tennis 2009, due May 19, was to be the only game to support the precision-enhancing add-on.

That changed today, as EA Sports has announced that it has bumped the release of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and Grand Slam Tennis up a week to coincide with the launch of Nintendo's new peripheral. Both EA Sports titles will ship to retail alongside the Wii MotionPlus on June 8 in North America. Previously, the titles had been slated to launch on June 15.

As previously announced, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 will be available in North America either as a stand-alone purchase or as part of a Wii MotionPlus bundle. The game-and-accessory package will cost gamers $59.99, while the game minus a MotionPlus unit will be available for $49.99. European gamers will also be able to pick up Grand Slam Tennis as part of a Wii MotionPlus bundle.
