Movie-related games dominate the week's releases down under.

After a fairly lean month of game releases, April's finally going out with a bang. Launching with the latest X-Men film (released this Thursday), the X-Men Origins: Wolverine game mixes in the film's storyline and also features original content by developer Raven Software. The game follows Wolverine’s life as he serves in the military and eventually ends up in the Weapon X project. Taking advantage of Wolverine's regenerative abilities, Raven has worked hard to add procedural damage to his body so you'll be able to see his wounds heal in real time. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is due out on Wednesday.

Five years after The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay launched, the sequel, Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, is due to hit our shores this week. Starbreeze Studios returns as the developer, and while it encompasses the campaign from the first game, Assault on Dark Athena has a brand-new story. It picks up shortly after the end of the first game, where Riddick is picked up by a mercenary ship and must escape. Expect to see The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena on store shelves around Australia this Friday.

Finally this week we have SingStar Pop Edition for the PlayStation 3. Like in previous SingStar games, there's not a whole lot new here as far as features go, but it does introduce 30 new tracks, including Robbie Williams' Angels, Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon, and Bon Jovi's legendary party song, Livin' On a Prayer. Coinciding with the SingStar Pop Edition release is the launch of the new wireless microphones for the PlayStation 2 and 3. They're compatible with all SingStar games, on both consoles, and it's nice to see the mics go wireless. Sadly, you'll need to plug a USB receiver into your console to get them working. Both SingStar Pop Edition and the wireless microphones are out on Thursday.
