High Voltage Software first showed off The Conduit in June 2008, and that initial exhibition left more than a few shocked at the Wii title's visual fidelity. As detailed by company CCO Eric Nofsinger in an interview with GameSpot last year, his studio deliberately set out to create a first-person shooter for the Wii that challenged the system's technical capabilities, something that he felt most other developers were failing to do.

Soon, gamers will be afforded a firsthand look at how well High Voltage completed this challenge. Today, Sega set a date for when gamers can plug into The Conduit, saying the game will arrive for the Wii on June 23.

Powered by High Voltage's proprietary Quantum 3 game engine, The Conduit is an original first-person shooter in which Earth finds itself under assault by an alien force known as the Drudge. In addition to the single-player game, which plays out in a near-future Washington, DC, High Voltage plans to incorporate online multiplayer for up to 12.
