Aussie game charts: April 6-12

Wii Fit retakes the top spot down under.

Comments

The Nintendo family remains at the top of the Australian game charts, and Wii Fit and Wii Play have been jostling for the top spot. The past few weeks have seen Wii Play the favoured of the two, but things changed last week when Australian gamers voted with their wallets and boosted Wii Fit into the first spot of the overall chart, according to data trackers GfK Australia.

Still doing a respectable job, Wii Play managed to snag second place for the week of April 6-12. SingStar Queen continues to sell strongly on the PlayStation 2, spending its third week in the third spot. Both Mario Kart Wii and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars grew significantly last week, with Mario Kart moving up to the fourth spot and GTA just below it at number five. Despite receiving poor reviews from critics, the PlayStation 3 version of The Godfather II went on to debut at number six, whereas the Xbox 360 version of the game narrowly scraped in at number nine. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare GOTY for the Xbox 360 fell several places to finish at number seven. Monsters vs. Aliens took out the eighth spot, and Killzone 2 clung onto the bottom of the charts for dear life in 10th.
