McEnroe covering Grand Slam Tennis
Ornery tennis great joins Serena Williams, Roger Federer on US box of EA Sports sim, due for Wii June 15; PS3, Xbox 360 editions confirmed for fall.
Wimbledon isn't the only exclusive EA locked down for one of its newest sports franchises, Grand Slam Tennis. Last month, the publisher revealed that rambunctious tennis great John McEnroe would also be exclusive to the sports simulation. And, unsurprising given the profile of the athlete, EA said today that McEnroe will join present-day tennis legends Roger Federer and Serena Williams on the North American cover when the game ships on June 15.

Known for his raucous antics on the court, McEnroe won seven Grand Slams and 77 singles titles over the course of his nearly 15-year career. No slouches in their own right, Federer and Williams have won 23 Grand Slam singles titles combined over the course of their careers. EA also said that Williams' appearance on the cover of Grand Slam Tennis is of historic note, as it marks the first time a woman has appeared on the cover of an EA Sports simulation product.
Along with confirming cover athletes today, EA said that Grand Slam Tennis will indeed appear on more than just Nintendo's platform, as previously indicated. According to the publisher, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of Grand Slam Tennis are expected to arrive this fall. Though details on the project were light, EA did say that these two trailing editions will feature an "innovative" control scheme as well as online connectivity.
