Aussie game charts: March 16-22

Wii Play rises to reclaim the top spot in the Australian game charts.

While Halo Wars and Resident Evil 5 may have a better reputation among hardcore gamers, it would seem that they lack the staying power of Nintendo's casual range. Waiting for all the buzz of the past month's titles to fizzle out, the Wii Play bundle, which comes packed with a Wii Remote, has stealthily regained the top spot in the overall Australian game charts, according to data trackers GfK Australia.

Wii Play's partner in crime, Wii Fit, took out the second place for the week of March 16-22. The PlayStation 3 version of Resident Evil 5 continues to outsell the 360 version, with the PS3 in third and its Xbox 360 counterpart in fifth. Stuck in between the Ressie Evils is Halo Wars for the Xbox 360 in fourth position. While Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars marked the debut of GTA on Nintendo's family-friendly DS console, it failed to make it into the top five games for its maiden week, missing out by a spot and landing at number six overall. Mario Kart Wii retains the same position it held last week to sit snuggly in seventh place. Killzone 2 continues to fall down the charts, finishing in the eighth spot. Activision's Guitar Hero World Tour for the Wii took out the ninth place, with chart warhorse Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? clinging on for the 10th and final position.
