David Hayter may not be a household name for most, but his contributions to the gaming, comics, and film spheres are. Perhaps best known as the voice of Metal Gear Solid hero Solid Snake, Hayter also penned X-Men (2000) and X2 (2003), as well as cowrote The Watchmen, for which he has been a vocal proponent. Hayter, along with ex-Marvel chief creative officer Avi Arad, have also been tapped by Capcom to handle the forthcoming celluloid conversion of its arctic sci-fi shooter Lost Planet.

Now, Hayter plans to capitalize on that wealth of experience by forming his own production house, Dark Hero Studios. Variety reports that the new studio will be a joint venture between Hayter and Watchmen producer Benedict Carver, and will focus on film, TV, Internet, and video game projects in the action, sci-fi, and horror genres. The duo expects to secure independent financing in the near future.

As noted by Variety, Dark Hero's first project will be titled Demonology, which Hayter described as a product of his experiences attending an international school in Japan. "It's about an American kid who goes to one of these schools in Belgium, but it brings my own horrible experiences of school to life," he told Variety. Dark Hero expects to spin off the property into graphic novels, comics, films, and games, with Hayter writing and directing the projects.

Release dates, platforms, and other details regarding the project were not revealed.
