Aussie game charts: February 16-22

Street Fighter IV kicks butt and takes names.

Last week saw Street Fighter IV, the latest addition to one of gaming’s greatest franchises, not only debut in Australia, but jump straight to number one in the overall game charts, according to data trackers GfK Australia. In a move that is sure to add fuel to the flame, the PlayStation 3 version of SFIV took out the top spot, while the Xbox 360 version was forced into third place, beaten by Wii Fit, which came in at second place.

The other major release of last week was Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II for the PC, which took out the fourth place for the week of February 16-22. Mario Kart Wii dropped several places from the previous week, landing in at number five. The '70s porno-funk House of the Dead: Overkill hit a soft spot with on-rails shooter fans last week, moving enough units to make it to the sixth position during its first week of sales. Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? has felt the effect of all the big releases of last week, dropping down to seventh. Not too far behind it is Wii Play at number eight. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin for the Xbox 360 narrowly scraped in at number nine, but its PS3 counterpart wasn't so fortunate, only making it to the platform-specific PS3 chart. Last, but not least, is Guitar Hero World Tour for the Wii at number 10.
