When Midway Games came to an agreement with a first group of creditors this month, it emphasized that the deal would not affect The Wheelman's February 16 release date. Last week, when it made a deal with the remaining holders of its $240 million in debt, the long-delayed driving game also appeared on track.

No longer.

This week, Midway revealed that The Wheelman won't launch on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 until March 20. A demo will be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live before the release of either version of the game, which will ship for the PC simultaneously.

First announced in February 2006, The Wheelman is an open-world road-action adventure that features the likeness and voice of actor Vin Diesel. The Fast and Furious star is an outspoken game enthusiast who starred in (and whose Tigon Studios helped develop) The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay for the Xbox and PC. Atari will publish an expanded PS3 and 360 remake, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, later this year.

Developed by Midway and Tigon, The Wheelman sees Diesel play Milo Burik, an undercover agent who is sent to Barcelona and eventually finds himself involved in a power struggle between three gangs that run the city. As Burik, players will need to infiltrate each faction, taking jobs in the game's sandbox city to work their way to the top of the Catalan capital's underworld.
