Noby Noby Boy may be under most gamers' radars, but the PlayStation 3-exclusive game from Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi has actually been on the map since July 2007. Be that as it may, information on the downloadable game has been slim at best, and GameSpot's own sit-down with the imaginative creator yielded more cryptic clues than hard details.

There's a game in here somewhere.

Soon, however, gamers will be able to experience Takahashi's latest experimental game for themselves. Namco Bandai announced today that Noby Noby Boy will arrive on the PlayStation Network in early 2009. In the game, players will assume the role of an amorphous caterpillar that can grow or shrink by eating--or passing--objects found in the environment.

According to Namco Bandai Games vice president Shin Unozawa at the time of the game's original reveal, Noby Noby Boy will rely heavily on physics--a primary factor in bringing the game exclusively to the PlayStation 3. The game will also use the PS3's recently introduced in-game YouTube-upload capabilities.
