Mirror's Edge delivered to factory

Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night could keep EA DICE from finishing its original first-person action-adventure game on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Last month, the senior producer of Electronic Arts' new acrobatic action game Mirror's Edge said that the game was just the first in a planned trilogy. That trilogy is a bit more likely to materialize now that developer EA DICE has announced that the first game is actually done.

EA DICE confirmed today that Mirror's Edge has gone gold on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, which should let it meet previously announced release dates of November 11 in North America and November 14 in Europe. (A PC edition is expected this winter.) The publisher of the game is clearly trying to mark the game's launch as a significant event, promoting it with a comic-book tie-in, a prelaunch demo, a free Time Trial mode for preordering customers, and a $130 limited-edition package.

Mirror's Edge puts players in the spry shoes of Faith, a black-market courier in a fascist, futuristic society. When her sister is framed for the assassination of a local politician, Faith must go on the run to clear her name.

@chwynn..Why, you ask? Simple..PC versions usually finished at later dates because of 1) There's more money to be made on consoles. 2) Because of that, console version is worked on and completed first. 3) Depending on time restraints and deadlines developers may not have a big enough team to work both versions simultaneously, thus the console version is usually released first, then they go back to finish the PC version. True, PC's are superior in power, NOT in sales. And it also matters what platform the developers primarily make games for.

(A PC edition is expected this winter.) WHAT?!?!?
So, not at the same time? What's the point any more, PC is far superior to consoles, why do all release dates these days tack on at least a month to PC releases? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC-

I didn't know what to think when I first saw this game but after I played the demo, I was hooked! This game is a must have and I didn't even experience any motion sickness! EA is doing big things.

game looked good, then I played demo. the controls and movement are great, but the combat needs alot of work, I still am very excited about playing the finished game. Gamers need to keep an open mind when games are artistic and original games. Just because it's not a sequel doesn't mean it's not good

I played the demo and I have to say that I wasn't impressed. Maybe if I rent the game I will see what all the hype is. I just feel that it's Assassin's Creed as a 1st person shooter.

After enjoying the demo, I have to say my excitement for this game really shot up a few notches. Some areas of EA may actually be on the up and up... lets see how this plays out until Mass Effect 2 nears completion...

I don't know. Isnt this basically a platformer put into first person? The story looks horrible, and the main character looks boring as well.

Thumb me down if you'd like this game still looks really boring.

Demo was fun, but I don't have the change for the game this year. Maybe next year. And please people, stop even mentioning the term trilogy until at the very least the first game has been released. It just sets standards and expectations that are unnecessary. It's just one way that video games are different from film and novels.

Wonder if it'll be called the directors cut... xD nah I actually like this game more than Assassin's Creed, awesome demo.

3 Reasons this game will be the 08' version of "Assasin's Creed":

    1) Boring Level Design: White Buildings...more White Buildings....more White Buildings. I GUARANTEE IT!

    2) Run on this...climb on this....Run on this...jump on this...cheesy disarm of horrendous A.I enemy....bored by 3rd level.

    3) A bad story. There is no way this story will be in the least bit interesting or intriguing...the main character ALREADY isn't doin it for me....

EA has been doing a lot of right thing these days, with spore, C&C3, Dead space, i don't think i would mind if they milk those new IP (Mirror's Edge, Dead Space, Spore) to death as long as they keep the quality high (at least as high as Dead Space right now)

Asking "What is fun about running on rooftops exactly?" is like asking "What is fun about creating portals and using them to solve puzzles?"

Please...if you don't like it, don't upset other people by whining.

I loved the demo. Can't wait for more. Not sure if this is a buy or rent, it will kind of depend on the amount of modes/content included. If they do a good job of expanding on the core gameplay with maybe some kind of open world mode or even with some multiplayer race modes, etc I could see myself playing this a lot. It has the same kind of appeal that Portal did for me.

Druners21..you may be the only gamer here who thinks the graphics were bad. I thought the game was FUn..That is the purpose of games, to have FUN as DDR_Midian tried to point out to you. The deom is what a demo is, a DEMO.

I dont know, for me the whole premise for Mirror's Edge seems like a minigame that would be halfway through a game. Like I said I just am not sure, I have not played far in the demo, I just thought maybe I was missing something or some way of thinking that made it so amazing like everyone was saying it is. I just can not see it competing with a lot of other titles that have been released lately.

The demo was absolutely phenomenal. My only worry is that it might be too short, but other than that, the controls are fluid, and it looks just plain cool to run around on rooftops and things like that.

what would prefer Druners, running on roof tops or staring at guys from birdseye view in Ages of Empires 3 as they slowly put bit by bit put bricks on a wall.......slowly but surely they are going to fight......oh wait, someone destroyed the building......we'll have to start again.......

"I dont get the hype for this game, I tried the demo and found the graphics to be poor and the gameplay to be completely repetitive. What is fun about running on rooftops exactly?"

If you're asking that question you obviously have no idea what "fun" is. Need a new hobby mayhaps.

After playing the demo, not really sure if I could justify spending $60 on this game. Doesn't seem like there's much there. It feels more like a downloadable game for like, $30.
