Saboteur release date sabotaged

EA and Pandemic's freedom-fighter action-adventure pushed out of current fiscal year, now expected between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2010.

As part of its earnings report yesterday, EA delivered an impressive list of second-quarter releases that cleared the million-unit mark by varying degrees. Notably, Madden NFL 09 led sales with 4.5 million units, with fellow new releases Spore, Tiger Woods 09, FIFA 09, NCAA Football 09, Warhammer Online, Mercenaries 2, and the Rock Band/Rock Band 2 duo all attaining platinum or multiplatinum status this fiscal year.

One game that won't join that list is Pandemic's Saboteur. In justifying to investors why it had lowered its expected earnings per share by $0.30 yesterday, EA said that Pandemic's viva-la-resistance action-adventure had been pushed to the publisher's fiscal year 2010, which runs from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010.

No reason was given for why Saboteur was pushed beyond its previously announced Q1 2009 calendar-year launch window. However, Pandemic has been a busy hive lately, releasing the tepidly received Mercenaries 2: World in Flames on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 3, and PC. The LA-based studio also announced yesterday that it would be delivering Lord of the Rings: Conquest to the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Nintendo DS on January 13.

    After saboteur make a star wars battlefront 3. Come on that game would not suck. YOU WOULD MAKE SO MUCH MONEY

    I read this was going to be a ps3 exclusive. Really i dont think it matters, as long as it performs well on both systems.

    lol, "tepidly received." Only by you GS. Otherwise the game is in the 70s, which is alright. Besides, it sold truckloads.

    honestly, i'm not at all surprised by this long delay. Firstly, it's Pandemic. Secondly, it's Pandemic after having already released a heavily delayed game this year. The initial Saboteur release date was probably based on the assumption that Mercs 2 would get out in a timely fashion...which it didn't.

    GameSpot, you guys need to proofread your articles first. Also... this sucks. I was looking forward to Saboteur, even though i don't have a 360.

    This is one of the titles I have been most looking forward to since it was announced. Please don't cancel. I really want this game. For the people who have no clue what this game is check out the trailer. Looks very promising.

    When they finally announce they are doing SW Battlefront 3, people will stop doubting them. It's already rumored to include a Death Star mission, from space fighting to fighting on foot inside it... it's only a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt... still hope it's true though.

    Pandemic is pissing me off they won't make a battlefront3 but make a knock off for Lord of Rings.
    They made a crappy shadow of Mercenaries AKA Mercenaries 2

    AND now BioWare makes KOTOR MMO I believe the future isn't great fot Pandemic-BioWare thanks EA you jerks

    Saboteur had generated a lot of interest among gamers and I hope that it makes it. Just do it right and avoid the mistakes of Golden Axe.

    this is okay news. Pandemic have really showing us some great stuff for the future like lor conquest and saboteur. They would like to polish it up because of mercs 2 which wasnt excellent but wasnt great either so yea i guess i can wait

    well, they should try to make sure they don't release around the same time as Velvet Assassin (previously titled "Sabotage"), as they both basically look like the same exact WW2 Splinter Cell like stealth game... and I'm surprised one of these companies hasn't come out to claim the other one stole their idea

    after pandemic released Mercs 2 as buggy and broken as they did, I just hope they are taking the extra time to not screw us out of our money by releasing ANOTHER near-unplayable game.

    I like Pandemic but they are taking a bit too long on their games. Look at Mercs 2. It was announced a few months after the first one back in 2004! And when it finally came out look how it was. Was kinda looking forward to LOTR Conquest too but once again they missed that release date.
