Aussie game charts: September 29-October 8

Nintendo has flexed its muscle again, taking out the top spot down under in the Australian game charts with its hugely popular fitness game Wii Fit. Australian sales data is analysed and distributed by data trackers GfK Australia.

FIFA Soccer 09 managed to claim the second spot, despite spending a few days on store shelves, for the week of September 29-October 8. The Wii Play and Wii Remote bundle came in third position, whereas the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 versions of EA's popular sports sim FIFA Soccer 09 claimed both the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. Mario Kart Wii has retained the sixth place from the previous week, and Wall-E on the PlayStation 2 moved up into number seven. The latest game in Sony's Karaoke series, SingStar Hottest Hits, dropped several places to number eight. After a brief hiatus, Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain returns to the overall charts at ninth place. Last but not least is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on the Xbox 360, which finished off the week at number 10.

In other charts news, 6 out of the possible 10 spots in the PC charts have been taken up by The Sims 2 and its various expansion packs. Interestingly, World of Warcraft has dropped off of the PC top 10, whereas competing a MMOG, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, fell only slightly to number three.
