Capcom has been tight-lipped about exact release dates for its arcade brawler Street Fighter IV or the console Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, but gamers willing to trek to the San Francisco area will have the opportunity to go hands-on with both games next week.

On Tuesday, September 30, GameSpot will host the Ultimate Street Fighter Showdown at CBS Interactive's headquarters in San Francisco, a free and open-to-the-public event that will be sponsored by Capcom and feature tournaments in both of the publisher's upcoming fighters. From 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., would-be winners will pummel each other out of the running one by one, until one stands triumphant in each game.

For those who deviate from Ryu's belief that the fight is everything, there's also some money involved. The winners of each tournament will receive a $1,000 prize, as well as the chance to earn another $500 if they can best the other tourney champ in both games.

Like any good competition, there are some a few ground rules. Participants must be 18 or up, no bags or other items will be allowed in the building, and players are not allowed to bring in their own controllers or joysticks.

Can't make it to San Francisco next week? No problem. GameSpot will also be hosting its weekly community game night for Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting on the Xbox 360, so players from around the world can go toe-to-toe with the crew in California.

For more on the event--including pre-registration information to secure a spot in the first-come, first-served brackets--check out the GameSpot community page.
