Jamil Moledina first attended the 2004 Game Developers Conference as a writer for Game Developer, and was running the show by the time he went back the next year. In 2009, Moledina will have the opportunity to be an attendee instead of an organizer once again, as event owner Think Services today announced he has stepped down from his position as GDC executive director.

Moledina told GameSpot that he couldn't get into specifics about what he's moving on to just yet, but added, "You can be sure I'll be in the industry." Moledina's last day with Think Services--formerly the CMP Game Group--will be August 28.

Think Services didn't announce a replacement to Moledina's role as executive director, but it did point out that Meggan Scavio will continue as the conference's event director. Scavio has been with the show for eight years.

While Moledina's departure will have an impact on the conference, organizers have many months left to pick up his slack. The 2009 Game Developers Conference is set for March 23-27 in San Francisco, California. For more information on the event, check out GameSpot's complete coverage of GDC 2008.
