The Cars merged new wave and rock music during the 22 years they were together, and now older gamers will be able to reminisce by strumming, drumming, and singing along to their first album.

The band hailed from Boston and was formed in 1976. Their first album, simply called The Cars, came out in 1978. Unfortunately, the band's most famous hit, "Drive," isn't part of the download, given that the chart-topper wasn't released until 1984. The band split in 1988.

The tunes will be available for download on May 27, either individually for 160 Microsoft points each ($1.99, £1.33) or as an entire album for 1,200 Microsoft points ($14.99, £9.99)

The full album tracklist is as follows:

"Good Times Roll"
"My Best Friend's Girl"
"Just What I Needed"
"I'm in Touch With Your World"
"Don't Cha Stop"
"You're All I've Got Tonight"
"Bye Bye Love"
"Moving in Stereo"
"All Mixed Up"

Rock Band launches in Europe this Friday, May 23, and as promised, all of the content that has been available for download in North America is now live and waiting for Europeans to start downloading, according to Larry Hryb on his Major Nelson blog.

Highlights include "Call Me" by Blondie, "Don't Look Back in Anger" by Oasis, and "Truckin'" by Grateful Dead. From this week's European launch onward, new content for Rock Band is set to be simultaneously available in both regions every week, including The Cars' album.
