Nintendo dates SSBB, WiiWare for Europe

After Super Smash Bros. Brawl made its stateside debut last month, European Nintendo fans were left wondering when they, too, would be able to battle it out with the publisher's mascot. Well, wonder no more...the popular fighting franchise, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, will be tackling Wii consoles across the continent from June 27.

Nintendo's WiiWare channel will also be making a European debut on May 20, which is 12 days after its US release. WiiWare will offer downloads of original first- and third-party games to Wii consoles. In the same manner as Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network, it is intended to allow smaller, independent developers access to the console's growing installed base. WiiWare launched in Japan on March 25. Launching just 10 days after WiiWare is the Nintendo Channel, which will allow owners to download DS games to their Wii, and will work in conjunction with WiiWare.

The Nintendo Channel will be available as a free download from the Wii Shopping Channel on May 30. The Japanese version offers streamed video content, including interviews with Nintendo's developers, one of which featured Shigeru Miyamoto with the newly launched Wii Fit. It is unclear whether the European version will have such features.

Nintendo will release both Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii this month in Europe, ahead of the US. In a separate statement, the Mario Factory also released its latest financial figures today.

Nintendo's lineup, listed in full below, also confirms that Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice will be arriving May 9.
