Grand Theft Auto IV golden, already in transit

Rockstar Games' heavily anticipated open-world action adventure for Xbox 360, PS3 has entered mass production and is "en route to retailers" for April 29 release.

Say so long to those delay rumors. While word has yet to come on whether Take-Two will accede to Electronic Arts' $2 billion acquisition offer, one scenario that will not occur is analysts' speculated delay of Grand Theft Auto IV.

During Take-Two's shareholders' meeting today, the publisher said that GTAIV has gone gold. The game is "in production and in trucks en route to retailers," proclaimed Take-Two CEO Ben Feder. Rated M for Mature, GTAIV will be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 29.

Though it won't be released for another 12 days, industry watchers have already projected a massive debut from the next installment in Rockstar North's prized franchise. Last October, Janco Partner's Mike Hickey projected global opening-week sales of more than 9.5 million, with 5.8 million units turning up in US consumers' hands alone. Earlier this week, Variety reported that sources within Take-Two fully expect the game to sell some 6 million units in its opening week, generating revenue in excess of $400 million.

    Game never does anything right for me always late so i havent used em for over a year HMV FTW. its cheaper by £10(special edition =P) and free special delivery WOOT!!

    My copy got dispatched yesterday from GAME so should get it monday as i always get them 1 day early from GAME, and the guide got posted today. cant wait!!!!!!!!

    I'm interested in seeing if they end up pulling the game and trying to change a few things, so I'll be sure to get the debut copy just in case that happens.

    Saying GTA4 will sell millions in the opening week is like saying the sun will appear during the day. I think I just developed a bad flu starting on the 29th and can not go to work for a day or 5.

    GTA IV fully leaked! UNREAL! Go to dailymotion.com and type in 'GTA 4 gameplay' and you'll come up with almost 20 videos of gameplay footage from pirated versions of the game.

    i'm only worried for our customers' pre-orders (blahdvd.com) as it's not allowed to leave our building til monday but R* and T2 have stated that we must ship 1st class as early as possible that day to make sure everyone gets it on time so we should be ok

    Your forgetting that Halo 3 was onmly release on 360, while this is going to be available to both systems. That why it will break records.

    Great, now us preorders have to see if they arrive at our homes on the 29th too.

    If not how LAME was preordering? Big time LAME, that's how.

    I hope this game beats the others before it and is as huge as we have been led to believe otherwise I'm personally going to be on EBAY ASAP to ditch this duffle bag of loot to the first person who bids. Sorry, for those that love all incarnations before this out, hopefully, but I felt they were one trick ponies of novelty that got old super fast, like 15 mins, despite friends trying to pimp them on me. Reminds me of the feeling I finally playing through that OVER HYPED game called, GASP, Halo 3. Made me understand again why I hated the demo I played back when Halo 1 was brand new..

    Halo 3 was a bigger deal then this at the moment but there only made close to $100 million because of game and halo figures posters etc, GTA only has the game and thats it and GTA is a big deal for as many people any more as most players of the GTA games aren't 18.

    First thing ima do when i get the game is walk down the street in the beginning of the game and admire the beauty of the game then kill an innocent bystander just to get my star rating up. i told my girl friend that the first two weeks after college is out that she wont her from me!!!! is that bad???7 days, 21 hours, 9 minutes, 00 seconds. until it's out at midnight

    Glad to see so many students here facing the same dilemma I'm in right now... Can't study for exams just b/c of Apr. 29... Everyday I'm here on Gamespot trying to get some more info on GTAIV

    Ahh, only a few more sleeps till I get to play in my favorite virtual sandbox. I loved the feel of Liberty City the most of all the locales for GTA games, and I'm hoping that grimy, neglected, old feel comes back to GTA4. I still miss the nameless, mute-thug from GTA 3 as the main character, but I'm sure the new dude, voice, name and all, will be lots of fun, too!

    Glad to hear there is no delay, Now I'm just hoping they have a good depiction of what new york looks like, (unlike the awful "true crime: streets of new york") I mean rockstar has an office in NYC and from the looks of it, it looks good.
    I wanna find my apartment building and kill everyone outside of it.
