The future of the Spider-Man films may be murky, but Activision's games based on the webbed wonder will swing on regardless. The publisher has set up a teaser Web site to promote the next game featuring Marvel Comic's iconic arachnid, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows.

The site doesn't specify platforms for Web of Shadows, but it does give some insight into the development team's approach to the game. Even the URL of the site, seizecontrol.com, emphasizes an attempt to put players in command of the game.

"Control everything," the site reads. It adds that players will affect the outcome of the game, how Spider-Man fights, which powers get upgraded, whom to ally with (or against), and the fate of a New York under invasion.

Development on Spider-Man: Web of Shadows has been entrusted to internal Activision studios Treyarch and Shaba Games. Treyarch has plenty of experience working with the webslinger dating back to the 2001 Dreamcast port of Neversoft's original PlayStation Spider-Man game, while it will be Shaba Games' first crack at adapting the iconic superhero into games. The game is expected to ship this fall.
