Last week, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced that European gamers would be able to join the Metal Gear Online beta from the end of April. It looks like Aussie gamers won't miss out, however, as Atari Australia has confirmed that Australians will also be able to participate in the beta. On April 17, a sign-up form will go live on the MGO site for those interested in participating, with the actual beta running from April 21 to May 6.

Those who are lucky enough to be accepted will be able to download the beta from the PlayStation Store and will be treated to two maps: Blood Bath and Groznyi Grad. Blood Bath is a multistory kill house, and Groznyi Grad will be instantly familiar to fans of the series because it's the same base featured in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Atari Australia has also confirmed that the Australian release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be in line with the rest of the world on June 12. However, there's still no word yet on whether Australia will be getting the limited-edition version of the game.
