Crisis Core, Dragon Quest Swords confirmed for Australia

Ubisoft to distribute Crisis Core, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Dragon Quest Swords, Arkanoids, and Space Invaders Extreme down under.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII--the much awaited PSP game that was released in the US in March this year--has finally been confirmed for release in Australia. Ubisoft has announced it will distribute the role-playing game down under for developer Square Enix, although no fixed date has been set for release.

In addition to Crisis Core, Ubisoft has also won the Australian distribution duties for some other key Square Enix titles. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors for the Nintendo Wii is slated for an autumn 2008 release, while Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift for the DS is due in winter this year. Arkanoid DS and Space Invaders Extreme for the DS and the PSP have also been dated for winter 2008.

Ubisoft is also distributing the upcoming RPG The World Ends With You in Australia.

    meepers9:
For handheld games like Crisis Core, it's nothing to do with being a PAL country. PSP and DS games run on all hardware, regardless of country. The delays are purely licensing issues. If Australians started to buy imported copies online in sufficient quantities, companies would eliminate the time gap, but since most people buy from local retail stores (even though handheld games are faster and cheaper to import) there's no reason for Australian game publishers to bother about the issue.

Stuff lieke this sucks. If it is the same language, then why can it not be released in all english speaking coutries at the same time? We English, invented English, surely we should have crisis coreby now?

I wonder why Ubisoft is the only publisher who seems to bother to take Japanese games and release them here.
