S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, the follow-up to last year's S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, has officially been dated by the game's creator.

Developed by Ukraine-based GSC Game World, the PC title will ship worldwide on August 29. Set in 2011, Clear Sky takes place before the events of Shadow of Chernobyl, a first-person survival game that put gamers in the role of a mysterious amnesia-suffering scavenger trying to come to grips with the aftermath of Chernobyl's radioactive wasteland, complete with paranormal activity, mutant creatures, and competing scavengers--armed to the teeth, no less.

According to GSC Game World, "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky introduces an alternative look at the events of the original game and offers the player [the chance] to try himself out as a mercenary S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in search of his own path in the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R."
