Wilcoxen hawking for Ubisoft

Publisher names former Sony BMG exec as new vice president of sales across US market.

Last week, Ubisoft trumpeted the sales figures of Assassin's Creed's first crusade, which totaled more than 2.5 million units sold in the four weeks since it launched. While the quality of the critically acclaimed action adventure undoubtedly spurred sales, a strong marketing and sales team certainly didn't hurt either. Adding to that team today, Ubisoft has appointed former Sony BMG Music senior sales VP Rick Wilcoxen as its new vice president of sales.

Wilcoxen will oversee Ubisoft's efforts to strengthen and expand the publisher's sales team across the US. Prior to his new role, Wilcoxen led BMG's sales efforts, where he pioneered BMG's collaborative sales environment, setting music industry sales records and garnering a number of awards, according to Ubisoft.

"Rick is a proven leader with a highly successful track record for building and leading large, record-breaking national sales teams," said an effusive Tony Key, Ubisoft's senior sales and marketing VP. "Ubisoft is excited to have him onboard and is looking forward to harnessing Rick's knowledge and experience to further drive Ubisoft’s success in the North American gaming market."
