Nintendo lays out Q4 '07, Q1 '08 slate

Console manufacturer dates more than 200 Wii and DS games expected to arrive by the end of March; new Advance Wars and Assassin's Creed dated for DS.

Today's delay of Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii may have put a crimp in many holiday wish lists, but Nintendo is hoping the rest of its lineup will soothe any sore feelings. Nintendo has announced its latest North American release schedule, with more than 150 games on the DS and Wii expected to launch from the start of October to the end of 2007, and dozens more slated for the first three months of 2008.

Nintendo-published DS games made up some of the more notable release dates, with the Advance Wars sequel Days of Ruin set to start the new year off with a bang, landing in stores on January 21. For more near-term entertainment, Flash Focus: Train Your Vision in Minutes a Day will be coming into view October 15, with Master of Illusion magically appearing November 26. Combined with the already-released Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass and Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol, there were seven Nintendo-published games on the DS schedule.

Although the total of scheduled DS releases was substantially larger than that of the Wii, Nintendo is producing slightly more in-house support for its TV-tethered system. The company is publishing eight Wii games on the schedule, with only one of those (Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast) already released. Nintendo has actually strung together the remainder of its 2007 first-party Wii lineup for release in consecutive weeks, with Battalion Wars 2 arriving October 29, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn set for November 5, Super Mario Galaxy on November 12, and Link's Crossbow Training (with the Wii Zapper) on November 19.

The list contained a few release dates of note from third parties as well. While Ubisoft hasn't actually announced a DS version of Assassin's Creed, Nintendo's list provides support for an April retailer listing that first hinted at the game's existence. According to Nintendo, the game is set for a February release.

Sega's NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is still set for a holiday 2007 release, despite rumors that the game was pushed into next year. Another Sega game, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, was given a set date of February 19. Finally, Ubisoft is continuing to inundate Nintendo fans with options, given that it is releasing eight DS games and seven Wii games in the month of November alone.

    Wow. Theres ALOT of crappy ds games. Polar Bowling? New Zealand Story Revolution???????

    Well Ninja Gaiden DS and Contra 4 are the only games worth my time/money on this list. The wii... dont have one, wont get one, so not my fault it has such a sad line up of cheap/kiddie/casual/minigame oriented games.

    lol, i wonder how assasins creed on ds will look, they shud make it look as good as ninja gaiden ds does or even better. i stopped reading when i saw, phantom hourglass. ill be so busy playing that game, i wont have time for any other game on any console. oh and yeah, nintendo, just a suggestion, im seeing alot of spinoffs from your bestselling games. isnt it time u made a totally new idea with a new character? and im not talking about a kirby-like creature. some one along the lines of link or samus with a similar adventure to the zelda/ metroid games....in other words, for hardcorers. if u want, ill design the character myself and/or the game.

    There are far too many kids titles and things up there for my liking. I know that there is a large audience for this kind of stuff, but I find myself sifting through the ball-pool of kids-games just to find a mature title in the wii release schedule.

    Mature titles aren't just violent titles you know, I count trauma centre as a mature title aswell - just things which test your brain, or get you to read on, or involve a nature that I can relate to easily...
    Or at least offer a universe that I can escape to.

    Metroid Prime is a good escape for me, mario and sonic are great as I grew up with those games (ignore the recent sonic titles though, ok!).
    Resident Evil, I adore resident evil..
    But I do miss Silent Hill quite a bit, and I really enjoy titles like phoenix wright on the DS and hotel dusk.

    Its a shame that on the release shedule there is only a handful of titles that I will be drawn to. Frankly, I have had enough of searching through minigames and things - that was all done last-year.

    Well, I suppose I am a bit dissapointed with the list of games for the next few months - don't get me wrong, its one good list of games right there - easily rivalling the other consoles.

    I guess I am just waiting for those definitive Wii titles, half of the titles (inc metroid) feel alot like gamecube titles with certain controls worked into it.
    I would love to see a wii game, developed from the ground up on the wii.

    Resident Evil UC looks like its at least giving some graphical qualities that the other games are not aiming for.

    Ah, what can I say about this list - its a good list of games, some great series' on there. But I'm just not sensing that wonder and possibilities very much.

    I remember last year I could think of 100's of titles that would make excellent wii games.
    A wii silent hill game would be out of this world for me.

    Heck, even a star wars game where you just lightsaber duel people online and things.
    And have a pole attachment so you can get two wii remotes on either end and have a darth-maul thing going on...

    Anyways - ONE amazing title is all the wii needs, the rest of the list can be ignored I suppose.
    I don't mean to be blunt, but when you look at the 360's release schedule, there are at least 5 killer titles there - the rest of the 360's schedule will be ignored.
    But it seems that alot of the wii games, even the big titles, seem like they are being over-shadowed by the commercial games which copy everyone else.

    Except for smash bros, sm galaxy, Re:UC, dementium, mario and sonic, metroid 3.. not much left for me there. Metroid will probably last me a while, as will resident evil UC.

    But seriously - all the wii needs is some prolific games to kick it off. Games like a top notch castlevania title, a unique PROPER resident evil game, a silent hill game... you know, let some good franchise names get the wii treatment and allow them to shine.

    I am sure alot of the wii games up there will be very very good, like mario galaxy and all that.
    But im not after the staple nintendo-diet. I like mario, but not enough to own an entire console for.

    I will roll around in glee when a silent hill game comes out for the wii. I guess what Im trying to say is that the wii needs to get some shocking titles up there. Names which stand out, because the names on the list above feel very generic to me. Nothing fresh.

    I think the list looks awesome. Although with my limited game playing time and limited funds, I'll probably only end up with Super Mario Galaxy and Link's Crossbow training ($20!). Plus with the new one coming out, I should be able to find the first Raving Rabbids game for $20

    My god, what crap is this list. After I browse thru the DS list, only 10+ out off 170+ games are good. Others are for kiddies.

    I don't hate Wii, but where are those 5 Mega Stars GAMES like The Legend of Zelda, Resident Evil or Metroid Prime games???

    I have nothing against the Wii but it's unfortunate that despite the fact that so many games are coming out for the system, there isn't a whole lot that appeals to me while I see quite a bit of games I want to play on the PS3 and 360. Wii is an interesting idea but I always get the impression that Nintendo doesn't really care about Core/Hardcore gamers or whatever people call us now. The Wii would be an even better system if Nintendo did something about it and actually catered to all kinds of gamers.

I'm a huge 360 fan but i have a Wii and i love it. I don't like PS3 but i don't go around talking smack about it because some people do like it and good for them.     Introducing this generation's Playstation. The Wii is going to be like the Playstation and Playstation 2 of old. They both got the most games, but also got the highest percentage of crappy games. I'm not saying all these games are crap, but that I'm betting most of them are.

    I only read the Wii list and besides the obvious AAA titles I've never seen such a long list of crappy games in my life. and just before you begin replying just know that this post was written on wii itself!!!

    Actually, if you repeat those words to yourself 1000x(HINT: more effective if done on the streets), the graphics do become better and makes you more intelligent. Just dont turn on the PS3 or X360 besides it because reality will set in. Back on topic: lots of games, good for you Wii owners

    I disagree with those who says it's "stupid" nintendo is delaying Super Smash Bros. ; gamers would be more annoyed if the release was too early and the product unfinished. It's still being tweaked, so they pushed it back to improve it. I'm happy they're perfecting it. Metroid Prime was delayed. That was one of the best games ever. For anyone worried about release dates not there, like Resident Evil, its release is like a day after Mario galaxy: Nintendo doesn't release the dates of all big 3rd party companies even if there is an official release; I guess they are big enough they can release it themselves and people will know

    There are two types of "gamers". The first are those that enjoy games in the purest sense, because, for whatever reason, they find a particular game fun. The second are those that simply like to stare at their screen in an un-stimulated stupor marvelling at good graphics and nice wasting their time looks. "Crappy" graphics is, by today's standards, N64/PS1 like. The Wii has excellent graphics, they simply decided to focus their effort, time, and money on pleasing gamers with a functional brain.

    And all of them'll have crappy graphics and be inferior to the other consoles' versions. But, the kids will flip over them because it's Nintendo.

    I love how it only says October for Mercury Meltdown Revolution (sarcasm). That game has been delayed so often even Nintendo won't give an exact date.

    Game consoles are not reserved to only have a few select types of games. Placing the name X360 or PS3 does not mean war games and high combat. Think of all the kiddy games released for the PS2.

    And the same goes for Nintendo.

    So, Nintendo, wanna stop giving us dates for games? Don't make promises you can't keep. The only truth to this list is the games that have already been released. I agree this list is rather unimpressive. Smash Bros. being moved is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

    Wow, half those games sound, well, half-assed. There's not really any there that stand out and there's a lot of generic "Pump them out for the cash of it" kind of titles. They need to come out with more, invovling games and more games with more of a mature storyline. Nothing with like blood or boobies, but games like Zelda and Metroid Prime: Corruption, where there's a indepth storyline and addictive gameplay for all the right reasons.

    it seems to me that 3rd parties are just taking
    advantage of the fact that theres alot of systems
    out there and that a crappy game will sell millions
    although... thats how i see things

    i think nintendo should regulate wut crap gets on its
    console

    the new Smackdown vs raw for the wii should b an interesting game

    the list states that SSBB is comin out on Feb 10

    about 3-4 months to make ur finishing touches N and manhunt 2 is comin out at the end of the month!

    Could be alot sharper than that tbh. At the moment that list is looking about as sharp as a knife in a pit of very unsharp things which ultimately make the knife of which were talking about unsharp.
