Video Games Live adds new leg of shows

More than two dozen dates scheduled from London to Los Angeles for gaming music concert series.

Two years ago, the Video Games Live concert series readied a 25-city North American tour, only to cancel all but two shows mere days before the first performance. At the time, organizers Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall pledged to press onward on a smaller scale, putting on and promoting events one city at a time. Even so, the group is taking another shot at the big time, as Video Games Live today announced 25 new shows set to take place through July of 2008.

The show will feature the music of a number of gaming franchises, including Mario, Zelda, Halo, Warcraft, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, and BioShock. In addition to the music, the tour features interactive video screens, lighting effects, and audience participation segments.

While the only announced shows so far will be in the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom, organizers said they're planning about 20 more shows in Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America.
